  • November 1997: Professor of Statistics at the University of Florence (Dept. of Statistics).
  • From November 1997 to october 2002: President of "Corso di laurea" in Economic Statistics at the University of Florence.

Scientific interests:

  • Main scientific interests: survey sampling theory, with particular attention to the theory of nonsampling errors, especially for nonresponse, and to the theory of the analysis of data coming from complex surveys.
  • Particular scientific interest from 1995: (a) capture-recapture methods and their application in social and economic sciences fro determining the size of elusive populations (National coordinator of 40% MURST research project); (b) 'informative' sampling methods for selecting environmental data.
  • From august 1991 ISI member;
  • November1996: invited introductory lecture at the śth International Workshop on Household Survey Nonresponse" in Rome.
  • From march 1996 to February 1999: member of ISTAT committee for the study of longitudinal survey designs on households and firms and of area sampling in agricolture.

. From 2003 till 2005, national coordinator of the PRIN "Innovative methods organization and contents in sample surveys for agricultureand environment".

. From 2006, national coordinator of the PRIN "The statistical information in agriculture: present needs and future developments".
